HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria are preventable diseases that exploit and exacerbate poverty, threatening health and stability around the world. But we can act. The administration has pledged support – both historically and currently – for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. They have promised real dollars. In July 2025, Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). When fully implemented, the law will force millions of their health insurance through Medicaid and nutrition assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The law did not expand the Child Tax Credit (CTC) for 16 million children in families with low income. These changes will result in millions being forced deeper into poverty.
