The consequences of early childhood malnutrition are devastating and permanent, but they are also entirely preventable. RESULTS works to secure smart, sustainable investments in nutrition and nutrition policy that help break the cycle of poverty.
As RESULTS advocates, our mission is to inspire Congress to take meaningful actions to fight poverty. Annually – as Congress turns its focus to the “appropriations” process, we have a real opportunity to get members on the record in support of global health and development issues.
A crowd of hundreds of advocates was gathered virtually on Feb. 6, 2021 for the RESULTS First 100 Days Campaign Kickoff event to prepare to meet with their members of Congress in their first 100 days in office.
Congressional leadership is working to pass another COVID-19 relief package through a special legislative process called budget reconciliation. This is a step in the right direction, but the amounts in the proposed budget reconciliation do not go far enough. More advocacy is needed to ensure that the U.S. provides COVID-19 relief on a scale that meets the tremendous need that exists in the U.S. and in partner countries.
As RESULTS kicks off our First 100 Days campaign, we’ll be pushing right away for more COVID relief that’s so desperately needed. The first 100 days will help decide which trajectory the country and world get on – one that goes back to “normal” after the pandemic, or one that actually builds with equity and justice.
This crisis is far from over, and we need a timely and coordinated U.S. global response. Contact your members of Congress and tell them to act now.
