Education is a right, not a privilege. RESULTS supports programs and policies that not only get children in school, but ensure they learn once they reach the classroom. The pandemic has dealt a major blow to education globally, particularly in countries already facing the consequences of decades of colonialism, resource extraction, and unjust global lending policies.
In 2021, RESULTS is pushing Congress and the new administration to make a $1 billion, multiyear commitment to the Global Partnership for Education, which is supporting more than 80 countries to transform education for over a billion girls and boys.
COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented global education crisis, setting back progress and dashing the dreams of children around the world, particularly girls. We are calling on all Together Women Rise advocates to ask their representatives to sign on to the bipartisan GPE sign on letter to the Biden Administration calling for a U.S. pledge of $1 billion at the GPE replenishment conference in July.

Write your local paper about the need to support the Global Partnership Education’s (GPE) transformative work in the lives of young people. As we near the GPE replenishment in late July, can you help us reach our goal of 100 global education media pieces published between May 1 and July 1? GPE now has an ambitious five-year plan to transform education systems in lower-income countries. Getting published on this issue is a key way to let legislators know about GPE and about what we need to do to support it. (Word version)
Review the recording and slide deck (PDF version/PPT version) for our May forum featuring Crickett Nicovich and Karyne Bury of RESULTS. We discuss the context for our upcoming International Conference advocacy work and focus in on the global education and nutrition requests that will be at the forefront. We also walk through examples of how to make an inclusive case for ending global poverty.

GPE has spent nearly 20 years helping governments invest in innovative solutions to get all girls and boys in school and learning. We celebrated COVID relief successes and looked at the 2021 campaigns on global education and nutrition. We learned about the appropriations process and tools available to us. We took action together online and prepared for taking deeper action with congressional staff.
Every year, Congress decides how to spend the money in the U.S. federal budget. RESULTS urges our lawmakers to support issues that build the foundation to end poverty – health, education, and economic opportunity. These are memos you can use to make FY22 requests of your members of Congress.
