Global Poverty Weekly Update December 5, 2016
Global Poverty CampaignsWeekly Update | Week of December 5, 2016 |
Quote of the Week"Courage, my friends; ’tis not too late to build a better world." – Tommy Douglas Call Right Now for Education for All!Call your senators today about passing the Education for All Act! Use our action alert link for support in making your call. Why the urgency? The House version of the Education for All Act passed in September, and this week we saw the first movement in the Senate on the bill in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The bill was brought before the full committee and it passed! But we still have several steps to go to pass the bill before Congress adjourns for the year. After its passage in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on December 6, the EFA Act was referred for a vote in the full Senate. Because it's the end of the session, Congress has many bills before it for consideration and a lot of floor activity that they are trying to get through before adjourning. We'll need every second that Congress is in session this week to ensure passage of the bill. Make your call today!
