December 2025-January 2026: Protect programs that keep Americans out of poverty

In July 2025, Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). When fully implemented, the law will force millions of their health insurance through Medicaid and nutrition assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The law did not expand the Child Tax Credit (CTC) for 16 million children in families with low income. These changes will result in millions being forced deeper into poverty.
