FY27 Appropriations: Tell Congress to fund the fight against poverty
This article was originally published on March 4, 2026 and will be updated throughout our FY27 appropriations campaign.
As RESULTS advocates, our mission is to inspire Congress to take action to fight poverty. Every year, Congress goes through the appropriations process. This sets funding levels for specific accounts. It’s essential that Congress includes strong funding for foreign aid and housing choice vouchers in the next fiscal year (FY27). This spring, we have a great opportunity to get members on the record in support of anti-poverty issues.
We can ensure health and development programs are fully funded by asking Congress to raise their voices. Congressional “Dear Colleague” letters are a show of public support with their peers. We want as many members as possible to sign on in support. You can check if your members signed on last year here. Then, reach out to foreign policy staffers to ask them to sign onto the FY27 letters.
You can also ask members of Congress to submit personal requests to the Appropriations subcommittees. They must urge the NSRP/SFOPS and THUD subcommittee to prioritize funding for these critical anti-poverty programs. Learn more about each of our priority accounts in the FY27 leave-behind memos and member form cheat sheets here.
