RESULTS Weekly Update June 9, 2026

June 9, 2026

Quote of the Week

“Saving children’s lives is moral. Supporting outbreak-squelching stockpiles is somewhat selfish. Both are the right thing to do.”

– RESULTS advocate Anne Child, in a June 2 letter to the editor, in the Oakridger (TN)

Be quick, ‘cause it’s deadline week!

If you’ve been waiting to register for the National Conference or vote in the Grassroots Board Member election, this is your week to act!

Conference registration is due this Friday. We’re already getting excited to join so many advocates from all over the country at the RESULTS National Conference July 12-14. But registration and applications for financial support end June 12. All discounted rooms in the hotel block have been booked, but regular-priced rooms are still available. Find all the details on our conference page.

Board voting ends June 15. Make sure you help choose the fellow advocates to represent you on the RESULTS Board of Directors. These are your voices on the Board so please take part in selecting them. You have until Monday, June 15 to vote. Two open seats on the RESULTS Board of Directors are being filled. Learn about the candidates and cast your vote today!

New week, new media hooks!

Keep writing your clear, compelling letters and op-eds so our issues and requests remain front and center. It’s all part of our Amplify Every Voice media campaign continuing through July. Have you submitted your latest media piece? Have you asked a community partner to submit something? Check out publications by your fellow advocates for inspiration and utilize our online templates to get started.

Look for hooks in your local paper and beyond. Have you read about the recently proposed cuts to WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) that would limit access to fresh produce? Has your news covered the pending reconciliation legislation that deprioritizes supporting households? Did you see recent coverage indicating that the U.S. may get back to its support of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance? Pick your hook and your approach, and then put pen to paper!

We also offer national story hook ideas or congressional district data to underscore local impact. Submitting a letter is a marvelous step. Please let RESULTS staffer Sarah Leone every time you send in a letter. And if you get published, please report it via our form – and then send to your legislators and celebrate!

National Conference Advocacy Day: Prep for success!

If you are attending the RESULTS National Conference July 12-14, work with your fellow advocates to book your meetings for Lobby Day on Tuesday, July 14. For convenience, try for Senate meetings in the morning and House meetings in the afternoon. Utilize our sample meeting request template to craft your request and then report each meeting scheduled. See our checklist for more helpful prep tips.

We’re now hosting issue-related webinars to prepare you for Advocacy Day. We shared a preview of our Advocacy Day requests during our June National Webinar. Over the next few weeks, we are offering two sessions to cover a specific issue area for your Hill meetings in DC. (Each session will cover the same material.) We strongly urge everyone attending the conference to please join. If you feel anxious or excited about your lobby meetings in DC, you’ll want to join these sessions. They will help you be ready when Advocacy Day gets here. You’ll also soon find session recordings on our conference page. Here are the dates and topics by week. Log in using this Zoom link (no registration required).

  • U.S. nutrition, housing and tax policy: June 10 (12 pm ET)
  • Global tuberculosis: June 17 (8:30 pm ET) and June 18 (12 pm ET)
  • Cross-cutting foreign aid issues: June 23 (12 pm ET) and June 25 (8:30 pm ET)
  • Late-breaking updates and Q&A: July 6 (12 pm ET) and July 7 (8:30 pm ET)

Remember to join “Researching Your Member(s) of Congress” on June 11. To supplement your understanding of our issues and requests, RESULTS Regional Coordinator Allison Gallaher will lead this 90-minute session focused on accessible research tools and applied practice. Register today for this webinar that begins at 8:30 pm ET.

TL;DR (too long; didn’t read): Make sure your National Conference registration and financial support application are completed by June 12. Vote in the Grassroots Board Member elections by June 15. Write and submit your next letter to the editor during our Amplify Every Voice media campaign. Mark your calendars for lobby meeting prep webinars in June and July. And attend “Researching Your Member(s) of Congress” on June 11.
