Quote of the Week

Together in solidarity

Many of you probably saw the executive orders President Trump issued on Monday, January 20. So many of them are completely contrary to RESULTS values. We stand in solidarity with harmed and affected communities in this country and around the world.

The antidote for anxiety is action

With all that’s happened this week, it is understandable to feel anxious, scared, and powerless. But there is a pathway out of those feelings – action. For 45 years, RESULTS has been demonstrating that everyone, no matter who you are or where you come from, has the power to create change. It may not be easy and it may not be quick, but that power is real if we use it. That’s why the opening move in our 2025 Action and Allies campaign page is a First 100 Days lobby push. If we want to help families access the tools to build a better tomorrow, we must act. If we want a world free of needless disease and poverty, we must act. And act now. Start requesting your lobby meetings with your senators and representatives to talk about 2025 anti-poverty priorities. The Action and Allies campaign page has resources to help you, including a sample meeting request email template. After booking, please contact Katie Fleischer as soon as possible to schedule a staff lobby prep meeting with your group.

Group planning is vital to success

Please aim to complete your local RESULTS group’s planning in January. Group planning sets the stage by helping you get clear on the group roster, group leadership, and the advocacy actions you aim to complete. Use materials on the “Working with Your RESULTS Group” page of our website. If you are a RESULTS volunteer with firsthand experience of poverty, we can help you share your story and insights. Write an op-ed with help from the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS). This could potentially be part of your group’s media goals. No prior writing experience is needed. Learn more about this project today.
