RESULTS Weekly Update December 17, 2025

December 17, 2025

Quote of the Week

“Although [Saint] Nicholas secretly helped those in need, his enduring legacy is his now-public example of compassion and moral responsibility to others.”

– RESULTS South Carolina volunteer Mary Lash in a December 12 letter to the editor in The Post and Courier

Your RESULTS Holiday To-Do List

Hold Congress accountable in the media. Our 600 Voices Media campaign is in its final weeks, and we’re just 52 media pieces from our goal. While members of Congress are home for the holidays, please submit letters to the editor demanding a budget that fights poverty. Send your next letter to the editor today!

Demand full funding for the Global Fund. Congress must honor U.S. commitments to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in the FY26 budget. The administration pledged $4.6 billion over three years, but is attempting to count $2 billion in previously unspent funds toward that total. Urge Congress to appropriate at least $1.5 billion in FY26 and press the administration to release the full $2 billion immediately.

Please support our democracy in action. If you value RESULTS’s resources and support, consider making a year-end gift to RESULTS. Our work to protect and advance anti-poverty programs has never been more important, and individual donors like you are essential to sustaining our nonpartisan advocacy. Thank you for your partnership.

Register for the January Webinar. Join us for the next RESULTS National Webinar on Saturday, January 10 at 1 p.m. Our dear friend Meredith Dodson, Senior Director of Public Policy at the Coalition on Human Needs will join us to talk about the FY26 budget. REMEMBER: Everyone must register to attend the January webinar! Register at www.tinyurl.com/RESULTS2026

Share . . . and sing! Do something personal for someone this season without letting them know it was you. Give a gift, buy a meal, send a card . . .  Gifts are extra special when they are given for giving’s sake. And while making your secret delivery, remember this time of year is ripe for singing. Whether it is in your car, in a faith setting, in the shower, or while caroling with friends, use that fabulous advocacy voice of yours to belt out a holiday staple. You’ll feel great afterward!

Complete your group rosters and coverage. Please remember to update your group roster and congressional coverage sheet in your Group Roadmaps. This information is vital to our work. We ask that you please update this information by January 12.

RSVP for Rovina’s Choice.  Join RESULTS for a screening of the short film Rovina’s Choice. The film follows one family and the ripple effects of the U.S. foreign aid freeze. Afterward, we’ll host a conversation on the importance of continued advocacy for foreign aid. The event is Wednesday, January 21 at 8 p.m. ET. RSVP for this important film screening.

Save the date for the International Learning Exchange. On Sunday, February 8, a special 90-minute webinar will be the kick-off of an endeavor to help grassroots advocates from all over the global RESULTS network meet, connect, and learn from each other. Please save the date! Full information and registration in January.

Enjoy an Update break. This is our final Weekly Update for 2025 (we’ll be back on January 6). Also, the RESULTS office will be closed December 19 and December 25-January 2 (most staff will be out of the office December 19-January 4).

Celebrate time with family and friends. This has been a rough year for advocates working to end poverty. Take time over the next few weeks to recharge with those close to you. Their affection for you and you for them will make your day and re-energize you for the work ahead.

Despite a challenging year, we end the year inspired by your amazing advocacy in 2025. We are grateful for all of you and all you do. RESULTS hopes you have a festive, safe, and wonderful holiday season. We’ll see you in 2026!
