We Must Preserve Full International Affairs Funding!

The proposed International Affairs budget is just 1.4 percent of federal spending, and supports a range of critical diplomatic and development programs, including assistance for global health, education and anti-poverty programs. With the headlines dominated by economic woes and mid-term elections looming this fall, there is tremendous pressure on Congress to slash funding for international affairs. We can’t let that happen. Write a letter to the editor today urging support for full funding for the International Affairs budget, and keep an eye on your inbox for an opportunity to weigh in with your senators.

To support your case, reference the letter from 50 retired admirals and generals or the one from 8 former Secretaries of State or the one from 31 Senators.

Margaret, Mary, MarkGreat Conference Call and Great New Blog Post

Rumor has it that our global national conference call on Saturday was one of the best in recent months due in no small part to passion and perspective of Dr. Jeffrey Sachs and the surprise appearance of Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and author Marianne Williamson. Take a listen! Additionally, for your continuing inspiration, check out a new blog post by Dallas partner Margaret Smith as she describes some powerful advocacy work done alongside RESULTS ally Mary Njoroge, former Director of Basic Education for Kenya.

“Just today, a patient came up to me in the parking lot and said, ‘Thank you, American.’ I said, ‘For what?’ He said ‘For my medicine. You care if I live or die.’”
