Global Fund Media Splash and World TB Day Mini-Grants

January 28 marked the 10th anniversary of the revolutionary, life-saving Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. January 28 has passed, but the relevance of the Global Fund and its situation remain as we mark the beginning of a new decade for the Fund. With the Fund under threat, our media advocacy is more important than ever. And you’re raising your voices! For the past couple of weeks, we have been hearing all about the letters to the editor, op-eds, and editorials you have been pitching to your local media outlets. And it’s working! For example, have you read the wonderful editorial printed in Salt Lake City’s Deseret News? This is the kind of effective media you are capable of inspiring.

Ready to take action yourself? We can help:

  1. Use this action alert to help you write a letter to the president.
  2. Use this alert to help you write a letter to the editor.
  3. Ask your paper to write an editorial using our editorial packet.
  4. Bring other people together to take action using our action sheet.

Also, have you checked out your chance for a 2012 World TB Day mini-grant? These powerful mini-grants could give your group a financial jolt, allowing you to bring to life that outreach event idea you’ve only ever dreamed of until now.

World TB Day can be an incredible opportunity to build community partnerships, strengthen media relationships, and educate your members of Congress on the issue of TB. RESULTS Educational Fund’s ACTION Project’s mini-grants program can give your group the resources you need to build public awareness and support for TB in your local community. The deadline to submit your application is 6 pm ET on February 27th. Why not apply today?

Valentine’s Day, Running, and Fundraising . . . What a Trio!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and RESULTS Albuquerque would like to help you send your love to your special people while helping RESULTS. The group is selling handmade valentines designed by RESULTS partner Louisa Barkalow. The whimsical heart on the front of the card is also a metal magnet you can enjoy all year. The price is $10 per card, and the proceeds will benefit RESULTS. Check out the online purchasing site, choose to donate online to either RESULTS or REF (RESULTS Education Fund), and make your donation. You will automatically receive a donation confirmation by e-mail in a few minutes. Then forward that confirmation to Louisa Barkalow together with your mailing address. You will promptly receive your valentine(s) in the mail and know your gift is spreading opportunity and dignity around the nation and the world.

Also, don’t forget to visit the RESULTS Runners (Jen, Yara and Cindy) who are over halfway to their collective goal of $3000. This kind of fundraising website will be available for you to use during the upcoming Friends & Family fundraising campaign (February 21-March 31), so don’t hesitate to check out this new online tool.

A leader’s role is to raise people’s aspirations for what they can become and to release their energies so they will try to get there.
