Global Weekly Update April 4, 2011
Take Action for Education in April
April is a time to get ready for the Global Action Week for education, which is May 2–8. Here are two ways you can get ready:
Action #1: Join the April Conference Call, Saturday, April 9
We are excited that our special guest this month will be Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY), the congressional champion of Education for All. She will be reintroducing the Education for All Act of 2011 and will speak to us about the critical role you play in ensuring all children receive a quality education. The call starts at 2:00 pm ET. Please call (888) 409-6709.
Action #2: Ask your representatives to cosponsor the Education for All Act when it is introduced
We are excited that there will be a new Education for All Act of 2011 this year. Please review our April action sheet and ask your representatives to cosponsor it when it is introduced (either before or during Global Action Week).
The RESULTS Family Keeps Growing
So far this year we have started two new groups in Corvallis, Oregon, and Lebanon, New Jersey. We extend a hearty welcome to everyone that is a part of either group! In other news, we are working toward group starts in both Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Northampton, Massachusetts. By the time the International Conference rolls around, we hope to have at least 6 new global groups across the country. However, we need your help to make this happen. If you know anyone in the following areas, please e-mail Mary Peterson, Global Grassroots Associate for Expansion, to discuss getting your contacts connected.
- Allentown/Bethlehem, PA
- Idaho
- Kansas City, KS and MO
- Nashville, TN
- Northampton, MA
- Montana
- St. Louis, MO
- Winston-Salem, NC
- Wyoming
- Xenia/Beavercreek/Fairborn/Springfield, OH
