Maternal/Child Health Sign-on Letter in House: Can We Get 60 Signers by Friday?

"Around the world there is a tradition of oppressing women and treating them differently and not giving them the same opportunities, and husbands beating their wives, and children not being sent to school. Those are traditions. Treating women and girls as second-class citizens. Those are bad traditions: they need to change."

These recent remarks by President Obama hint at the urgency of the very specific work we are currently engaged in regarding maternal and child health (MCH). As part of that work, we have an immediate opportunity. Ask your representative to sign the bipartisan letter to President Obama calling on him to maintain robust support for maternal and child survival programs in his 2017 budget, currently in formation. These investments are critical for the President, USAID, and Congress to deliver on our promise to lead on ending preventable maternal and child deaths by 2035.

More Actions and Resources for Our Maternal/Child Health Campaign

1. An exciting update! We are anticipating that the new maternal/child health (MCH) Senate bill will be introduced this Thursday. You'll find more information on our MCH resources page. In the meantime . . .

2. Write! Write an op-ed in support of our upcoming maternal and child health legislation. Look for a brand new MCH editorial packet later this week. You'll find it on our MCH resources page.
