Quote of the Week"Being aware of social issues is not enough. We must exercise our democracy to bring the change we wish to see in our communities across the globe." – Mahima Karki, former RESULTS REAL Change Fellow from Boston Quick ActionTake Action: We Need House Members to Cosponsor H.Res. 466 on Global EducationLeading with Action: Ask Your Rep. to Support Global Education Through H.Res. 466There is a global crisis in education. 263 million kids who should be in grade, middle, or high school are not. And many others with some school still can't read because of poor quality education. The data seems dire, but this is a vast improvement over how it was 10 years ago, and the US has been key in that progress. We must ensure that the US continues to lead on global education. We can do this by educating our representatives on the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), and getting them to voice their support for it. Here are actions you can take: Use our online action to ask your representative to cosponsor House Resolution 466, "Supporting the role of the United States in promoting children's access to quality education in the poorest countries through the Global Partnership for Education (GPE)." Thanks to your incredible advocacy, there are currently 20 cosponsors (including originator Rep. David Reichert of Washington state) on H.Res. 466 supporting the Global Partnership for Education. Is your representative on the list? Get a "yes" answer from them during the August recess and let us know. Current House Cosponsors: Reichert, Clay, Conyers, DelBene, Donovan, Fitzpatrick, Gallego, Heck, Herrera Beutler, Holmes Norton, Larsen, Lewis, Lowey, Messer, Napolitano, Ross, Ryan, Soto, Thompson, Yarmuth _____________________________ New!
