Requesting an Editorial Highlighting Child Survival
In the past 30 years, the world has cut in half the number of children under 5 dying every year of preventable causes; in other words, we’ve cut the number to 7 million children. We’ve achieved this through increased access to healthcare and education, and new health technologies like vaccines that fight pneumonia and diarrhea.
But it isn’t enough to cut child deaths in half when 20,000 children still die every day from completely treatable and preventable diseases.
June 14-15, the US, India, Ethiopia and UNICEF are co-hosting a “call to action” on child survival. At this meeting, world leaders will create a roadmap for ending preventable child death within a generation – a goal global health experts now think is possible.
Will you write an editorial highlighting our child survival successes and our nation’s leadership opportunity to create a world where no child dies unnecessarily before their 5th birthday?
