Diversity and Inclusion 101 is a foundational, 90-min workshop for all advocates in the RESULTS network. This session will connect the concepts to why diversity and inclusion are important to our grassroots movement’s success and how to apply them to the best work. The focus of the workshops will be on recognizing power, privilege, unconscious bias, and stereotype representations that target inclusive and anti-racist strategies. Upon completion, participants will be able to: 1) define critical terms such as cultural competence, diversity, race, stereotypes, unconscious bias, power, and privilege; 2) identify why inclusion is important; 3) describe how biases are developed and what influences them; 4) identify personal implicit biases; and 5) identify the value of disrupting implicit biases. Register here.
By registering for “Diversity and Inclusion 101: Implicit Bias, Microaggressions and Understanding of Systemic Racism and Oppression,” volunteers will have an opportunity to support Dr. Gunther’s research, anonymously, via participation in an optional survey before and after the workshop.
Note: RESULTS anti-oppression workshops and webinars are not recorded, so we encourage you to attend if you register. The Anti-Oppression workshops listed above limit 40 participants per session. Please register to reserve your spot! In the case that you are unable to attend, please be sure to cancel to release your spot for another volunteer. If you have any questions, please contact Karyne Bury ([email protected]).
