“We don’t see the world the way it is. We see the world the way we are” -Anais Nin
Diversity and Inclusion 101 is a foundational, 90-min workshop for all advocates in the RESULTS network. This session will connect the concepts to why diversity and inclusion are important to our grassroots movement’s success and how to best apply them to the work. The focus of the workshops will be on recognizing power, privilege, and unconscious bias, and stereotype representations that target inclusive and anti-racist strategies. Upon completion, participants will be able to: 1) define critical terms such as cultural competence, diversity, race, stereotypes, unconscious bias, power, and privilege, 2) identify why inclusion is important 3) describe how biases are developed and what influences them, 4) identify personal implicit biases, and 5) identify the value of disrupting implicit biases.
