Remarkable news from Washington

I have some remarkable news to share: The READ Act, landmark global education legislation, has been signed into law!

Many people worked very hard on this legislation, but YOU are the reason we can celebrate this victory. Even when the path seemed perilous, when the politics seemed impossible, you and RESULTS volunteers across the country kept pushing and didn’t give up. And because of that, millions of the world’s most vulnerable children will benefit.

We all know that education is transformational. From helping to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty to reducing girls’ vulnerability to HIV and early marriage, the impact of education on people and countries cannot be overstated. The READ Act will ensure that U.S. investments in global basic education are having the greatest impact, while also advancing quality education services for children affected by conflict or emergencies.

We still face many challenges and threats to our work, but please remember this: your voice matters, it has power, and it can make a difference. The fact that a bill on global education could pass both chambers of Congress in this politically fraught and divisive environment is a testament to the strength of citizen advocacy. The READ Act is proof of what we can accomplish together. I could not be prouder or more inspired.

Thank you again for all you do.
