Planning for our return to Capitol Hill in 2022
For those who have joined our International Conference before, this year will look a little different. Rather than one mega conference and advocacy day in DC, we’re planning a big virtual conference in June, and – if the pandemic allows – several separate smaller DC convenings for in-person advocacy throughout the year.
With the uncertainty around COVID-19, attendance at each event will be limited – but over the course of 2022, we aim to have space for delegations representing every RESULTS chapter, all 50 states, and international partners to come together in DC. Each event will help advance our 2022 campaigns, with a special focus on supporting new leaders who have joined RESULTS in the last two years and haven’t yet had the chance to make it to DC.
We’re aiming for three in-person events, timed to broader RESULTS advocacy pushes with Congress – one in the spring, one in the early summer before most members of Congress head home to hit the campaign trail, and one just after the election. Working together from both home and DC, we’ll be able to reach even more key legislative aides and members of Congress.
Each DC convening will have a slightly different legislative focus, and vary in size. Attendance will be limited and by advance registration only, with a process for each event to ensure equitable representation across the RESULTS network. RESULTS is committed to removing all financial barriers to attendance, and funding is available for delegates, including up to the full cost of travel and attendance.
If we’re able to proceed with a spring gathering, it will be quite small, focused on a subset of congressional targets with particular short-term legislative opportunities. For the summer and fall events, we’re establishing guidelines for local chapters to nominate delegates, as well as an open call for all advocates to express interest. And for anyone who isn’t able or isn’t comfortable coming to DC, we’ll have a full line-up of advocacy opportunities throughout the year from home. Stay tuned for more details!
