Global Poverty Weekly Update December 19, 2016
Global Poverty CampaignsWeekly Update | Week of December 19, 2016 |
Quote of the Week"Courage, my friends; ’tis not too late to build a better world." – Tommy Douglas RESULTS' Own First 100 Days! For this campaign, our goal is to have 100% of RESULTS groups and Free Agents meet face-to-face with their members of Congress or meet with local staff in person with participation by DC policy staff. After the holidays, we’ll have resources to help you and provide you ongoing support throughout the campaign. In fact, group planning in January will focus on the First 100 Days, instead of the entire year, so you can put all your energy into this effort. We’ll also track your progress and celebrate your successes all along the way. First step: Set up your first local group meeting for 2017, and start thinking about your first meetings with members of Congress for the new year, utilizing the tips from our Activist Milestones. Then watch for the First 100 Days Campaign planning materials to be shared around January 10, in time for the January 14 National Grassroots Webinar for Global Groups, 2 pm ET (an ideal date for working on your planning). Login: https://www.fuzemeeting.com/fuze/f2988286/30204806. Or to join by phone only, dial (201) 479-4595, meeting ID 30204806. Use the date of the webinar as a time to create your First 100 Days Campaign plan. Set a goal to have your First 100 Days Campaign plan completed by Inauguration Day, January 20. Second step: Get set to attend your choices from a slate of webinars designed to deepen your learning on how to work with Congress and how to lead with action in your communities. These webinars will instruct, inspire, and empower you along the way. The first one to note on your calendar is "Building Relationships with Congressional Offices: How to Set Up Meetings" on January 11, 9 pm ET. More information on this and the entire series of webinars, which will carry into March, will be available after our office re-opens January 3. Third step: Take a listen to "After the Election: How to Talk About RESULTS." Have your friends been talking about what they can do now? Have your Facebook feed and holiday-time conversations drifted from talk of cookies and cocoa to questions and calls to action? We’ll talk through new messaging strategies for recruiting volunteers and getting new people to take action with RESULTS following the election. Take a listen to the recording of the recent webinar that covered this important topic. We even have sample social media posts and a sample op-ed for you to use. Watch this webinar; you'll discover new tools for moving people to action in this new political environment. Let's make the First 100 Days something Congress will remember all year long! #First100Days #RESULTS100 Education for All Act Recap" . . .
