Who Can You Still Invite to the Table? A Conversation with Nicholas Kristof of the New York TimesNicholas Kristof, New York Times columnist and co-author of A Path Appears, which highlights change-making for the common good and highlights the work of RESULTS, will be our guest for a special outreach event on Valentine's Day! Gather the community for this special webinar at 2 pm ET on Saturday, February 14. It's not too late. Why not invite some folks from your community to watch it with you and discuss over coffee? Perhaps they'd love this kind of an introduction to RESULTS. For outreach support, including a comprehensive planning guide and details on how to test your computer so you're ready to log in on the day of the event, check out our page dedicated to this webinar. Plus, to help your outreach have maximum impact, consider inviting new folks to attend an upcoming RESULTS Intro Call, or plan yourself to attend the February 11 webinar entitled "Moving New RESULTS Advocates Along the Ladder of Engagement." RESULTS has developed a "Ladder of Engagement" to help us all support one another in deepening our commitment and skill-building toward our collective advocacy goals. February is the Time to Act: Face-to-Face Meetings with Congress on AppropriationsThe February Action Sheet is now available to support you in your overall appropriations requests, and individual one-pagers on each of our requests are available as well. So now's the perfect time to book face-to-face meetings with the legislators for when they are back in your district and/or state. February is the month to make your requests. While we haven't yet been given appropriations process deadlines from the Senate, the House has indicated that the Appropriations Committee will begin to deliberate on its work in late March. This means the time to get our requests to our individual members of Congress is now. Find your legislators through our website, or contact Lisa Marchal, Senior Global Grassroots Associate, if you have questions on how to reach a new incoming legislator. Would you appreciate reading about the President's budget, released on February 2, which offers context for our requests? Take a look at the latest blog post featuring analysis by Allison Grossman, Senior Legislative Associate. 2015 Group Planning Forms Due MondayWhat's Up Your Sleeve? Use the planning materials provided online and work with fellow advocates to envision and take steps for a fantastic advocacy year. What do you want to achieve? Learn? Change? Plan it, then please submit your plans by February 15. (Are you a free agent/solo advocate? You're invited to plan, too. Everyone's inputs are valuable and needed!) Sam Daley-Harris, Founder of RESULTS, on BookTVRESULTS founder Sam Daley Harris inspired viewers about RESULTS and Reclaiming Our Democracy on C-Span 2's BookTV recently. Watch and share a recording of his remarks! (You can also enjoy an article featuring his work, tied to his participation in The Distinguised Alumni Lecture Series at the University of Miami.)
