RESULTS Weekly Update March 24, 2026

March 24, 2026

Quote of the Week

“Ending tuberculosis will require more than medicine. It will require political will, public investment, and a commitment to protecting the most vulnerable communities. In many ways, the fight against TB is also a fight against poverty itself.”

–  “Tuberculosis: The disease I learned about because of my name” by Tiffany Tagbo, RESULTS Advocate and Fellowship Mentor, on our RESULTS blog.

Submit House housing funding requests, then turn to Senate!

You have done a fantastic job submitting our global appropriations priorities to the House! Remember that this week, you can still submit our fiscal year 2027 (FY27) Housing Choice Voucher funding request to your House members. The House deadline to send requests to the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development subcommittee (or T-HUD) is Friday, March 27, so submit the request today. Then, turn to the Senate! Senate offices are already offering their appropriations forms and setting deadlines for receiving those forms. Get all your appropriations requests into your Senate offices now. Our requests are the same as they were in the House: global health, global education, and U.S. housing. You can find all the FY27 appropriations memos on our website. Senate “Dear Colleague” letters which support our issues are forthcoming. If you have questions, join the Appropriations Forms Office Hour on Wednesday, March 25 at 1 p.m. ET. Details are in the events calendar. You can also contact Senior Associate Katie Fleischer for additional support.

Book lobby meetings for the spring recess

Let’s complement your incredible appropriations work with a bold finish to our early 2026 lobby push! We put a premium on building relationships with our members of Congress. Lobby meetings are a primary way in which we do this. We make requests digitally and by phone, but these requests come alive in a lobby meeting. In a meeting, members of Congress and their staff get to hear directly from the head and the heart of constituents. Lobby meetings are a means of discovering connections, having helpful dialogue, asking and answering questions, and respectfully holding members of Congress accountable. So, we want to focus our current lobby efforts through the spring recess (March 30-April 10). During the recess, many members of Congress will be back home in-state or in-district. You may be able to meet with your lawmakers face-to-face. But even if they are unavailable, you can schedule a meeting with local staff in an in-district office and ask relevant DC aides to join virtually.

Directly after the recess, on the April 11 National Webinar, we will shift our focus to a spring media campaign. This media campaign will support and amplify the lobbying you have accomplished so far. It will also create a “break” in lobbying between mid-April and the July RESULTS National Conference. (Can you imagine walking into congressional offices in DC with a stack of powerful print media you and your community have generated? Incredible!)

Our “Build a Better Future” campaign page has a suite of lobby support materials. We have sample templates for contacting a scheduler, issue backgrounders, support on making the ask and following up, and a meeting report form. Once a lobby meeting is booked, please contact Katie Fleischer to schedule a lobby prep meeting with RESULTS staff.

Mark your calendars

March 24 is World Tuberculosis (TB) Day. Write a letter to the editor! Tuberculosis is the world’s leading infectious killer. It exacerbates poverty and annually ravages millions. As Congress debates funding for areas like global health in the FY27 budget, which priorities will win out? Write a letter to the editor today highlighting how crucial it is that we support funding for the end of this disease.

Join today’s Child Tax Credit (CTC) webinar. Today (Tuesday), March 24, at 6 p.m. ET, RESULTS is co-sponsoring an informative webinar, “Raise Your Voice – A Child Tax Credit Advocacy Workshop.” Parent advocates will explain the CTC and outline key advocacy tips. Registration is open.

Plan for the April National Webinar. The April National Webinar will be held a week later than usual – on April 11 – due to a holiday weekend. We are thrilled that our guest speaker will be Margot Crandall-Hollick, Principal Research Associate at the Urban Institute and Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center. Margot will offer us a refresher on one of our campaigns, the Child Tax Credit. Register today for the webinar on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. ET. We’ll also kick off our spring media campaign. It’s a campaign that will underpin the fantastic lobbying you did during this first quarter of 2026. It’s also a campaign that will enable advocates to take an impressive stack of printed media into congressional offices during the National Conference in July.

The 2026 RESULTS National Conference – agenda information now available! Hot off the press – the general conference agenda is now available on our conference page. Accommodation details and a financial support application are available as well. One of the most vital elements of our upcoming conference is YOU! The chance to talk, learn, laugh . . . it’s what makes any RESULTS gathering special. And this conference purports to be an outstanding example of that. (Need proof? Enjoy and share this short, inspiring video!) The 2026 National Conference, July 12-14 in Washington, DC. It’s the place to be! (And stay tuned for more emerging conference news.)
