Remarkable Global Fund news
Right before the Thanksgiving holiday, we got some wonderful news. The United States attended the eighth pledging conference for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in South Africa last month. Incredibly, the Trump Administration pledged $4.6 billion over three years toward the Global Fund. Just months ago, a pledge of this size that maintains the U.S.’ traditional 1:2 match (the U.S. pledges $1 for every $2 pledged by other donor countries) was thought impossible. No longer.
Without question, a victory like this comes from the long-term and persistent advocacy of people like you who never let the chorus of support die down. (Read our press release.) However, vigilance is needed. First, we must see that the pledge is honored by Congress in future appropriations, starting with FY26. Second, the U.S. needs to also make good on the funds promised during the last pledging Congress, which are still sitting in the U.S. Treasury (about $2 billion). That pledge and this new one must both be fully honored. Use our online action alerts to write your members of Congress or write a letter to the editor. Thank leaders for supporting the Global Fund and urge them to ensure our pledges to the Global Fund are met.
Our “600 Voices” media goal is in sight
514 media hits and counting! That’s the incredible media work you’ve done in 2025. Every single piece of media that is submitted and every single piece of media that is published . . . each is an opportunity to raise up the anti-poverty priorities we Congress must champion.
There is still time for us to reach our “600 Voices” media campaign goal of 600 published pieces this year. But it’s not just about the number. It’s about the impact. Your media changes the conversation. It elevates what’s important. It inspires others to take action. And it holds Congress accountable.
The timeline for Congress is tight. Congress must pass FY26 appropriations bills by the end of January to avoid another government shutdown. The final FY26 budget must fund our global health and education programs funded at the House-passed levels or higher, fully fund the Housing Choice Voucher program, and include safeguards to ensure that funding is actually spent as Congress directs.
Your media can help ensure Congress meets these priorities. We have media templates on the FY26 budget, the Global Fund, and protecting democracy on our website. Also, RESULTS staff will host our next Media Office Hour next Monday, December 8, 8-9 p.m. ET. You can also email Jos Linn for further help. Thank you for writing. Thank you for persisting. Never question the difference you are making.
Items of note
You’re invited to the Quarterly Outreach Gathering. Join us on Thursday, December 11 at 8 p.m. ET for our final Quarterly Outreach Gathering of 2025. Strong and thriving RESULTS groups not only meet, engage, and take advocacy actions together regularly, but they also share their advocacy skills and opportunities to make change in their communities locally. We will reflect on and celebrate our work this year. We’ll also share outreach goals and strategies for 2026. Register here!
Still time to make a gift for Giving Tuesday. Even as RESULTS continues steadily in its mission, attacks on anti-poverty programs and on the nonprofit sector have taken a toll on our funding. We can’t do our lifesaving work without supporters like you who care about our mission to end poverty. It’s not too late to mark yesterday’s Giving Tuesday with a contribution. We’re so grateful you’re part of our community. Thank you for your generosity! Donate online today.
TL;DR (too long; didn’t read): And make plans to join the National Webinar on December 6. Celebrate the recent Global Fund victory and tell Congress to see through on their pledges. Get us to our “600 Voices” media goal by writing and submitting a letter to the editor. Join the upcoming Quarterly Outreach Gathering on December 11. And remember it’s not too late to make your Giving Tuesday gift to RESULTS! (Thank you!)
