Lynne Patalano elected as newest RESULTS Grassroots Board Member
Washington, DC, September 23, 2022 – Elected by the RESULTS grassroots body, RESULTS is welcoming longtime volunteer Lynne Patalano as the newest member of its board.
The RESULTS volunteer network stretches across the country, working together as advocates to move policymakers into action on poverty. This network is represented on the RESULTS Board by four grassroots members elected by their fellow volunteers, serving on the Executive Committee.
“I am so pleased to welcome Lynne Patalano to the Board. As a decades-long RESULTS advocate, she has played a key role influencing Congress, supporting RESULTS, and engaging other volunteers across the network,” said Joanne Carter, RESULTS Executive Director. “I’m grateful for her deep commitment to our shared mission, and all that she will bring to the Board as a representative of the grassroots network.”
Patalano joined RESULTS in 1985, founding a RESULTS group for San Bernadino and Riverside counties in California. Since then, the group has built powerful relationships with each of the representatives of the area in Congress. The group has hosted meetings, radio interviews, events with authors, public forums, fundraisers, press conferences, and regional conferences. Today Patalano also serves as a Regional Coordinator, supporting a network of groups throughout the western part of the United States.
“The vision that has sustained my enthusiasm for RESULTS for 37 years is the idea of generating the political will to end poverty – and rejecting the myth that we can’t make a difference,” said Patalano. “I want volunteers to see themselves as catalysts within our own communities to generate widespread demand for solutions to poverty. I hope RESULTS continues to offer volunteers breakthroughs to transform our individual and political powers.”
Carter also thanked Maxine Thomas of Indiana, who is rotating off the board after two full terms. “My enormous gratitude to Maxine Thomas, our outgoing grassroots board member, for her years of service on the Board, and the countless ways she has made RESULTS a stronger, more powerful movement,” said Carter. “I know Maxine will continue to be a tremendous leader in our work, both at home in Indiana and across our national network, as she has been since first joining this work.”
Patalano joins sitting Grassroots Board Members Lily Callaway, Jennifer Koo, and Lindsay K. Saunders, and ten other independent members of the Board, who will gather for the organization’s latest board meeting this weekend in Washington, DC.
