Remembering Rep. Don Young of Alaska
Washington, DC, March 22, 2022 – Statement from Dr. Joanne Carter, Executive Director of RESULTS and RESULTS Educational Fund:
For more than forty years, RESULTS volunteers in Alaska were met by Rep. Don Young and his staff with an open door when they came to discuss the fight against global poverty. They could count on him to listen, to take action, and to rally other members of Congress from both parties – on global education, nutrition, child health, and more.
Year after year, he led his colleagues in the House pushing to increase U.S. funding and leadership in the fight against tuberculosis globally and here in the U.S. On virtually every major letter, resolution, or legislation on TB over the last decade, Rep. Young was the lead Republican sponsor, and a champion working across the aisle to end this disease of poverty.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, constituents, and the RESULTS advocates in Alaska.
