Keep pushing for a COVID bill. Regardless of who wins the election, a new COVID bill must be the top priority when Congress returns to Washington next week. Ensuring that any bill includes the necessary funding and policies to help people struggling through the pandemic is our focus. Use our online global action alert to submit a letter to the editor (LTE) asking for a COVID deal that includes $20 billion for the global response to the pandemic and use our online U.S. media alert to submit an LTE asking for $100 billion in rental assistance in the next COVID deal.
Join Welcoming New Advocates call next week. RESULTS is seeing an unprecedented influx of new people wanting to join our cause. Making them feel at home is a critical step in getting them involved. Learn the best practices for welcoming new people to your local RESULTS group by joining our Welcoming New Advocates training next Tuesday, November 10 at 8:30 pm ET. Register today to attend.
Public Charge rule struck down. A federal court in Illinois has struck down the Trump Administration’s expansion of the “public charge” rule. The rule would have made it much easier for the government to deny entry or deport documented immigrants for using (or potentially using) public services such as TANF, Medicaid, and SNAP. For now, this is a victory for immigrant families, but the ruling is likely to be appealed.
