Join the first National Webinar of 2022 this Saturday at 1pm ET

Happy New Year! RESULTS hopes that your holiday season was festive, restful, and safe. To kick off the new year, we invite you to join the RESULTS National Webinar this Saturday, January 8 at 1:00 pm ET. On this first webinar of 2022, we are keeping it in the family. Our crack policy staff will be updating you on the latest from Washington, D.C., including what’s next for the Child Tax Credit, Earned Income Tax Credit, and rental assistance after Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) pulled his support for the Build Back Better Act on December 19. Also, in the wake of the rapid spread of the COVID-19 omicron variant, we will discuss opportunities to ramp up funding for access to the vaccine around the world. We’ll also look further into 2022 and what we expect to be the major opportunities for progress on our U.S. and global poverty issues. Also, as many RESULTS groups are in the middle of 2022 planning right now, during the webinar we’ll break into small groups to share your personal goals for the new year.

Saturday’s webinar will be in our traditional format:

  • 1:00-1:30 pm ET: U.S. poverty overview
  • 1:30-2:00 pm ET: Grassroots section including breakout rooms
  • 2:00-2:30 pm ET: Global poverty overview

Finally, the dawning of a new year is a great reminder to engage new volunteers you’ve been introduced to recently, or perhaps ones you met last year but who have not been involved lately. This is a great opportunity for them to get in on the ground floor on this year’s U.S. and global poverty campaigns, make them feel welcomed as everyone is starting fresh, and be a great kickoff for 2022!

TAKE ACTION: If you have not registered for a previous RESULTS National Webinar, please register today. Make a personal invitation to new volunteers to join the webinar, reminding them to register ASAP so they get the login information (RESULTS will send out the login instructions to everyone on Thursday). Also, you can find the webinar slides later this week on our National Webinars page (the recording and transcript will be posted there as well).

Announcements

Complete your Group Roadmap this month. If you have to have your group meeting to complete your 2022 Group Roadmaps, please schedule it ASAP. Annual group planning is one of the keys to RESULTS advocacy successes over the years, helping volunteers articulate the key roles and goals for building the political will to end poverty. Your 2022 Roadmaps build on your 2021 plans and successes. The 2022 Group Roadmap resources are available on our Working with Your Group page (under “Make your group plans”). Please complete your 2022 Roadmap by January 31. To help in planning, take a look at our new preview of our 2022 legislative campaigns. We will discuss group planning and our 2022 campaigns in more detail on the January 8 RESULTS National Webinar.

Start your 2022 off with a great leadership training. In 2022, leverage your natural strengths to excel in leadership roles within your RESULTS group, your community, and beyond. The GALLUP CliftonStrengths assessment helps to identify the areas where you, and your group, have the greatest potential by measuring your recurring patterns in thought, feeling, and behavior. Join this workshop to dig deeper into your top five strengths and learn how to leverage them in leadership roles. The training is next Tuesday, January 11 at 8:30 pm ET. Register today to receive a code for your online assessment (please register well in advance in order to complete your assessment and pre-work).

Experts on Poverty applications open. Our extraordinary Experts on Poverty (EOP) cohort generously and passionately share their stories of lived experience to highlight both the power of our advocacy campaigns and what’s at stake if we don’t seize opportunities to change policies that are detrimental to individuals and families. Read more about the Experts on Poverty program’s 2021 achievements and consider applying to become an EOP. Applications will only be accepted for the next two weeks, so don’t delay.

Register for January Policy Forums (special time for Global Forum). We are excited to be hosting our first set of Monthly Policy Forums for 2022 on January 20. Please note that to accommodate our guests from No White Saviors, the Global Forum will be at a special morning time (11:00 am ET). They will be joining us from Uganda, and we’re delighted that we will be able to learn from them. The U.S. Forum will be at the normal time of 8:00 pm ET the same day. Register for the U.S. Poverty Monthly Policy Forum and the Global Poverty Policy Forum today.

Report your advocacy actions for 2021! If you have outstanding lobby meetings, published media, or community outreach from 2021 that you have yet to report, please let us know about these exciting successes ASAP.
