RESULTS Weekly Update February 3, 2026

February 3, 2026

Quote of the Week

“The people of America don’t want to see their neighbors go hungry, lose their homes or be sick without health insurance.”

– RESULTS Snohomish advocate Willie Dickerson’s February 3 letter to the editor in the Chicago Tribune.

Join us for Saturday’s February National Webinar

One of the ways that RESULTS advocates make an incredible impact and move anti-poverty priorities forward is through annual appropriations advocacy. Congress will soon begin debating the fiscal year 2027 (FY27) budget. We have the opportunity to ask our members of Congress to directly weigh in on the budget and prioritize spending that will help combat poverty. We are preparing a full range of resources to support you. To start, come along to the National Webinar on Saturday, February 7 at 1 p.m. ET to hear directly from our policy and grassroots teams about what we’re asking for this year. You’ll also get time to practice laser talks on a couple of the requests. So register today and join us! (We’ll also be talking more about registration for the National Conference coming this July!)

Thank members of Congress for supporting our priorities

Congratulations! Today, the House passed critical investments in global health, global education, the Global Fund, vaccines, housing and more. This is a big deal. Children will have access to vaccines and food. Families will have access to health care and housing. This funding will save and improve lives. By passing FY26 funding appropriations bills instead of another continuing resolution, lawmakers are rejecting the administration’s efforts to slash funding. Legislators are clear; they want this funding spent as directed. This will help avoid a repeat of the funding chaos from 2025.

This success could not have been possible without you. Your years of convincing lawmakers to provide individuals and families the resources needed to escape poverty made a difference. Your rapid and forceful response to last year’s funding freezes made a difference. Thank you!

Before we pivot to our FY27 work, let’s make sure we thank those who helped us get here. Thank members of Congress who supported our global poverty investments over the last year. Remind them that these programs are essential to saving lives and building prosperity in struggling communities. Use these talking points to personalize an email to your House and Senate foreign policy aides today.

Finally, there is one question mark still remaining for the FY26 budget — funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The current bill funds DHS through February 13. This will give lawmakers time to negotiate reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Control (BCP). RESULTS stands with our allies in demanding Congress fund DHS only if it includes enforceable reforms that will stop the violence and abuse by ICE and CBP.

Don’t miss the International Learning Exchange!

It’s almost here! On Sunday, February 8 at 4 p.m. ET, there will be a special webinar called the International Learning Exchange. We don’t often have opportunities for grassroots advocates from around the global RESULTS network to connect. So we’re trying to change that! To kick off this effort, we are presenting this webinar. We already have a number of advocates registered. Will you be one of them? Join us by registering today

TL;DR (too long; didn’t read): Plan to join Saturday’s National Webinar by  registeringThank Congress for supporting our priorities in FY26 funding. And join the International Learning Exchange this Sunday.
