RESULTS Weekly Update December 9, 2025

December 9, 2025

Quote of the Week

“I urge our elected officials to protect the Constitution by passing a budget that ensures the administration carries out the law as Congress intended. Our democracy depends on it.”

– Massachusetts advocate William Deignan in a Metro West Daily News (MA) letter to the editor published December 6

600 Voices: Let’s hit that goal!

As noted on the December RESULTS National Webinar last weekend, we are edging ever closer to our 600 Voices Media Campaign goal of getting 600 media pieces in 2025. As of this morning, RESULTS volunteers have gotten 529 media pieces published in 2025. In a tumultuous and sometimes disheartening year, your media advocacy has been amazing. It has called out the Trump Administration for attacks on foreign aid. it has touted the benefits of SNAP and Medicaid, both during the reconciliation fight and during the government shutdown. It has contributed to the U.S. showing up to make a strong, new pledge at the recent Global Fund replenishment (see details below).

As we head into the final weeks of the year, imagine what another 71 media pieces (or more!) could do. 71 letters to the editor can push Congress to pass a fair budget that reduces poverty. 71 letters can push Congress to keep our promises to the Global Fund. 71 letters could demand Congress assert its power and pass a budget the Administration must enforce.

If every RESULTS volunteer submits one letter per week until the end of December, we can hit our goal. Can you take 15 minutes this week to submit a letter? We have media templates on our website and RESULTS staff is available to answer questions and provide coaching. Also, RESULTS staff will host our next Media Office Hour on Wednesday, December 17, 2-3 p.m. ET. And when you get published, please let us know in our Media Report Form. Good luck and happy writing!

The U.S. must keep its promises to the Global Fund

On the recent RESULTS National Webinar, we celebrated major volunteer achievements this year, including a big win last month in South Africa. Despite relentless attacks on foreign aid, the Trump Administration unexpectedly attended the Global Fund’s eighth pledging conference — and pledged $4.6 billion over the next three years. This maintains the U.S.’s 1:2 match and moves us closer to ending AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. This would not have happened without the persistent advocacy of RESULTS volunteers and allies. For over two decades, you’ve built a firewall of bipartisan support that has helped the Global Fund save 70 million lives.

But our work isn’t done. The Administration is wrongly counting $2 billion in unspent Global Fund money toward its new pledge. The U.S. must keep its promises to the Global Fund. That funding must be released immediately, and the new pledge must be fully funded with new money. Congress appears on track to meet the pledge — let’s make sure they do. Use our online action email and media alerts to urge Congress to fund at least $1.5 billion for the Global Fund in FY26 and press the Administration to release the unspent $2 billion.

Please update your Roadmap rosters and coverage

One of the keys to RESULTS’s decades of success over the decades has been volunteer advocates taking time each year to set goals and roles for their local RESULTS groups. These group “Roadmaps” are as unique as each group is and are integral in having success in your advocacy. But this year, we are taking a slightly different approach. Instead of setting all our goals at the start of the year, we’ll instead set goals based on campaigns — such as a lobby meeting push, outreach work, or media — when they happen. This will allow us to tailor our goals based on what’s happening on the ground. We’ll have more details on when and how to do this campaign-based planning in early 2026.

But there is something vitally important you can do right to get us ready — update your group roster and congressional coverage sheet in your Group Roadmaps. This information is vital to our work. When we are targeting actions for our campaigns or decide what districts to target for expansion, we consult your rosters and coverage. We ask that you please update this information as soon as possible and complete it by January 12. If you need support accessing your roadmap spreadsheets, please your Regional Coordinators or RESULTS Grassroots Staff. We will be happy to help.
