RESULTS Board Chair Honored with American College of Surgeon’s Award

Statement from Executive Director Joanne Carter

Tuesday, October 28, Washington, DC — “I’m delighted to congratulate RESULTS and RESULTS Educational Fund Board Chair Scott Leckman, M.D., F.A.C.S., who today will receive the distinguished and well-deserved honor of the American College of Surgeon’s Surgical Volunteerism Award at an event in San Francisco, CA.

This award recognizes his significant contributions to society through volunteer surgical care. His many accomplishments include establishing a volunteer network of over 600 physicians in Salt Lake County, volunteering his surgical services with the U.S. Navy, and serving as president of the Rotary Club of Salt Lake City, where he helped lead the organization’s work against polio.

Scott Leckman’s incredible breadth of service extends well beyond his surgical work. He has been a dedicated RESULTS leader across three decades, working to end poverty and the diseases that are both consequences and drivers of poverty.

As the Chair of our Board, and an active RESULTS volunteer leader, he not only offers his time and skill to direct service work, but also uses his powerful voice as an advocate to increase access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunity for the poorest people. Dr. Leckman’s steadfast commitment to health equity, poverty eradication, and empowering people to be change agents is an inspiration to all of us.”
