Washington Post Op-ed Tackles Child Vaccinations

Consider this: we are fortunate to live in a country where most children have access to basic medical services such as immunizations. However, this year alone, 8.8 million kids around the world will die from treatable or preventable diseases before their fifth birthday. In this age of medical advances, this is simply unacceptable. RESULTS remains committed to child survival as part of its mission to end hunger and the worst aspects of poverty. To that end, we are supporting an appropriations push on behalf of GAVI Alliance. More specifically, we are requesting $175 million appropriation for GAVI Alliance’s child vaccination work. GAVI Alliance is a public-private partnership that includes governments like the U.S., civil society, and the private sector. It is leading the way in making these vaccines available and, ultimately, in saving children’s lives.
