Today is day one of the Civil Society Program coinciding with the upcoming 2013 World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C. The Civil Society Program will run from October 7-12, with the Annual Meetings set to take place October 11-13.

In efforts to raise the profile of the World Bank's support to education around the world and improve its effectiveness, RESULTS has organized a session to highlight the latest issues in education in the run-up to the Annual Meetings. “Issues in Education: World Bank Policy Frameworks and Investment Trends” will bring key issues of World Bank education support into focus, including the urgent need to enhance the teaching profession, critiques and alternatives to the World Bank Group Education Strategy, impact of the World Bank's 2010 pledge to increase support to basic education, and essential considerations for post-2015 priorities and strategies.

The session will be held as part of the Civil Society Program and will take place on Thursday, October 10.
