Global Laser Talk October 2011
Global Education Sign-on Letter
I am calling to ask for the representative to help enroll 25 million children into primary school by 2014.
Right now, 67 million children don’t have access to primary school, which means they will never read a book or use basic math to solve a business problem.
However, the Global Partnership for Education has a plan to put 25 million kids in school in 46 countries over the next 3 years if they receive the needed funding. The US can help achieve this goal. We could shift some of our current global education investment to the Global Partnership for Education. Funding the Global Partnership would be a cost-effective investment.
Representative Jan Schakowsky is circulating a sign-on letter to Secretary of State Clinton requesting that the U.S. make a $375 million, three-year pledge to the Global Partnership for Education on November 7–8. Will the representative sign on to that letter? The closing date is October 21, and I can send you the text of the letter if you need it.
