RESULTS Weekly Update July 29, 2025
Quote of the Week
“We, the people, have the power to advocate for the dignity and worth of every individual. Our collective voice is strong and we will not be silenced.”
– RESULTS Austin (TX) advocate Susan Lamb in a July 20 letter to the editor in the Austin American-Statesman

Join the National Webinar this Saturday, August 2!
We are excited for this Saturday’s National Webinar. Register today! Resilience is a community sport. To that end, we have a couple of special elements planned for this webinar. We will kick off with a very special guest, Dr. Joia Mukherjee, Chief Medical Officer, Partners in Health. It will be a powerful conversation on organizing and solidarity. Then we will showcase YOU, our powerhouse advocates! We’ll hear from grassroots around the network, take the opportunity to enhance our connections with each other, and take stock of your achievements so far in this summer’s “Action Matters” campaign. Finally, we’ll talk about August recess advocacy opportunities. You won’t want to miss it. Join us at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 2 for this National Webinar!
Media makes an impact
In addition to the impressive number of lobby meetings you’ve held so far this year, your recent media work has been inspiring. Perhaps you would like to write about how the budget reconciliation bill could harm families and individuals. Or you’d like to write in support of robust FY26 funding for global health. (See our updated blog on foreign assistance for more news and talking points.) As we head into the August recess, we are persisting in media advocacy. Using our online guides, you can craft and submit letters to the editor on the topics of your choice, emphasizing what’s at stake. Use our online alerts and make the letters your own. Then hit the “submit” button and enroll others to write and submit as well.
Who’s incredible? You!
RESULTS advocates’ persistence and commitment continue to amaze. At this point in the year, you have accomplished at least 330 congressional lobby meetings, with at least 59 of those being face-to-face meetings with the legislators themselves. Remember that the August congressional recess is an excellent time to keep building congressional relationships through additional meetings. It’s also a great time to continue our summer Action Matters campaign. Why not encourage a newer advocate or advocates in your Action Network to join in an August recess lobby meeting? Check out more ways to build relationships with your community, your fellow advocates, and Congress via our Action Matters campaign support materials.
And to aid your preparation for the August recess, consider joining the Researching Your Member(s) of Congress office hour on Thursday, July 31 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Regional Coordinator Allison Gallaher, who leads our annual “Researching Your Member(s) of Congress” webinar, is available during this office hour to answer questions about how you can easily research your legislators. Bring your questions. Register here so we can welcome you.
TL;DR (too long; didn’t read): Register for the August National Webinar; write your local paper on our issues; and register for the “Researching Your Member(s) of Congress” office hour on July 31.
