U.S. leadership on Global Fund will make huge difference

Globally, COVID-19 has seriously disrupted healthcare and we are backsliding in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria. RESULTS advocacy has been crucial in building bipartisan support for addressing these diseases. And this year we have a huge opportunity because the U.S. government is hosting the replenishment conference for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria (the Global Fund).

From previous experience in Global Fund advocacy, we know if the U.S. makes a bold pledge other countries will follow suit. But we cannot do this alone—the Biden Administration needs to hear from Congress.

Excitingly, bipartisan leaders in Congress—Chairwoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) of the Appropriations subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations and Ranking Member Michael McCaul (R-TX) of the House Foreign Affairs Committee—have written a letter to the Biden administration calling for early and strong U.S. support for the Global Fund. A strong Global Fund replenishment will help us end AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, and prepare us to respond better to future pandemics.

So now’s the time to take action! Please ask your representative to sign on to the bipartisan letter to the President calling for U.S. leadership on the Global Fund and a bold pledge.
