January Laser Talk: Schedule a Meeting with a Congressional Office
Engage: Hello, (Scheduler’s name). My name is _________ and I’m a constituent. I’m contacting you on behalf of the RESULTS __________ chapter to request an in-person meeting with the representative/senator. RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed, everyday people from across the nation working to i bring an end to poverty.
Problem: As you know there is still much work to do on poverty. We see it in our community, state, and around the globe. The representative/senator has an important role to play in this, so we’ve been working with his office for over ___ years/months and we’ve been mobilizing lots of community members to join our movement. (Or, we’d like to introduce ourselves and start working with the representative/senator.)
Inform: We’ve really appreciated working with the representative’s/senator’s staff, but we also know that it’s important to have personal contact with the representative/senator. During our meeting we’d like to thank him/her personally for recent actions he/she has taken, acknowledge his/her staff, and talk about next steps we can take on global maternal and child health, as well as affordable housing and nutrition here at home.
Call to Action: We know the representative/senator cares about these issues. Can you find us a time to meet with him/her briefly in the district or virtually soon or during an upcoming recess?
