September 2023: Write a letter to the editor asking for READ Act co-sponsorship

We just learned some troubling news from UNESCO: the number of children out of school worldwide has risen. Through letters to the editor, we are asking Congress to co-sponsor the READ Act Reauthorization of 2023 (H.R. 681, S.41). This is vital legislation deals with this alarming trend through attention to foundational literacy and numeracy, monitoring and accountability, and more. August 2023: Keep pushing Congress to expand the CTC

Two years ago this summer, the first monthly payment of the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) went out to families across the country. After just one payment, 3 million children were lifted from poverty. In other words, we learned how to solve child poverty. But then gave up when Congress did not extend the CTC expansion after one year. Write letters to your members of Congress to expand the CTC to families with low income in tax legislation this year.
