RESULTS Weekly Update March 31, 2026
Quote of the Week
“Unfortunately, for those experiencing poverty, affordability is a dream, or at best a hope.”
– Willie Dickerson, RESULTS Snohomish (WA) advocate, in a March 29 letter to the editor in the Corvallis (OR) Gazette-Times

Send Senate appropriations requests today!
Senate offices have their appropriations forms available. The Transportation, Health, and Urban Development subcommittee of Appropriations (T-HUD) has an April 20 deadline for submissions. Likewise, the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs subcommittee of Appropriations (SFOPS) has an April 30 deadline for submissions. Congressional offices will have to submit their requests much earlier than that. Submit all your global health, global education, and U.S. housing appropriations requests into your Senate offices now. If we work now on our appropriations requests, we can concentrate on Senate “Dear Colleague” letters supporting our issues when they are available. You can find all the FY27 appropriations memos on our website. If you have questions, join the Appropriations Forms Office Hour on Friday, April 3 at 12 p.m. ET. Details are in the events calendar. And contact Senior Associate Katie Fleischer for additional support.
Time for spring recess lobby meetings
Thank you for bringing the transformational power of lobby meetings to the forefront here during the first quarter of the year. Building relationships. Supporting anti-poverty champions. That’s the business we’re in. We email. We deliver letters. We make phone calls. And during lobby meetings we make true connections.
With the current congressional recess ending April 10, it’s the perfect time for our final lobby meeting push. So, book those meetings with your group and your community. Our “Build a Better Future” campaign page provides comprehensive lobby support materials for every step of the process. Need help wording a scheduling request? Want to read up on an issue? Want help organizing a meeting agenda? Want to support your successful meeting on our designated report form. Check out the “Build a Better Future” page. Once you have booked a lobby meeting, please contact Katie Fleischer to schedule a lobby prep meeting with RESULTS staff. And remember: one option may be to visit your local in-state or in-district office and ask to be connected virtually with the appropriate aide in Washington, DC.
Then, on the April 11 National Webinar, right after the congressional recess ends, we’ll gear up our spring media campaign. This media campaign will give us a chance to take a breath before resuming our lobbying around the time of the July National Conference. And media that you and your community publish will underscore your messages to congressional offices. (Plus, can you imagine what a cool impression you’ll make walking into congressional offices during the National Conference with a stack of printed community media?)
April 11 National Webinar and much more!
Register for the April National Webinar. Please note that the April National Webinar will be held a week later than usual – on April 11 at 1 p.m. ET – due to a holiday weekend. Registration is open. You won’t want to miss the insights on the Child Tax Credit offered by Margot Crandall-Hollick, Principal Research Associate at the Urban Institute and Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center. We’ll also kick off our spring media campaign. It’s a campaign that will underpin the fantastic lobbying you did during this first quarter of 2026. It’s also a campaign that will enable advocates to take an impressive stack of printed media into congressional offices during the National Conference in July.
Nominate an advocate for a RESULTS Grassroots Director seat. Would you like to take leadership in shaping our community of anti-poverty advocates? Do you know someone who would be a strong voice for guiding RESULTS? We are now accepting nominations for the open Grassroots Director seats on the boards of the RESULTS Educational Fund and RESULTS, Inc. This three-year term will start in July 2026. Nominate someone who would be a strong voice representing RESULTS volunteers or nominate yourself to take a bold new step in leadership. The election will be held throughout June. Nominations close on Thursday, April 23. Read all the details on our blog.
Hold a spring Friends & Family Fundraiser. Have you ever considered hosting an online fundraiser for RESULTS? These fundraisers are simple to put together and are an invaluable support for our advocacy. Our Friends & Family Fundraising Guide has been refreshed, and you can contact RESULTS staffer Lesley Reed for help with your fundraising page. Regional Coordinator Beth Wilson is also available for additional fundraising support.
Check out the 2026 RESULTS National Conference agenda. The general conference agenda is now available on our conference page, and you’re invited to take a look at what’s going to be offered. We hope you’ll decide to spend a few days with us this summer to learn, share, advocate, and fan the spark of enthusiasm for our work together! (Take a look at this inspiring video about the conference, too!) Register today, and stay tuned for more news.
Stay tuned for more power-building support. We are working intentionally to support our grassroots to build leadership, offer advocate mentoring, create action networks, and develop local community partnerships for congressional anti-poverty champions. Encouragement, tools, and creative idea-sharing will be on the menu all year via quarterly gatherings. Stay tuned for the gathering next quarter. Interested in learning more? Contact the Grassroots Team.
TL;DR (too long; didn’t read): Submit Senate appropriations forms right away. Book lobby meetings today for the spring recess (ending April 10). Register for the April National Webinar on Saturday, April 11 (a week later than usual). Consider creating a Friends & Family online fundraiser.
