Join Saturday’s National Webinar with Sonya Acosta

As we work to Build a Better Future, we are in the thick of spring lobby meetings. We’re meeting with Congress on appropriations requests on global health, global nutrition, global education, and U.S. housing. We expect Congress’ work on the fiscal year 2027 (FY27) budget to move quickly. Join us this Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m. ET for the RESULTS National Webinar, where we’ll focus on supporting your lobbying efforts. Lobbying is one of the most essential and exciting things we do at RESULTS, and we want to support new and veteran advocates alike. We are happy to welcome Sonya Acosta, Senior Policy Analyst at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, as our guest this month. Sonya will educate us on the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, how it works, and how best to expand HCVs to more Americans. We will also have policy updates and a deep dive into tips that could make your advocacy a bit easier. Finally, you’ll be motivated by shares from our grassroots network. Register today!

Need lobbying support? We got you!

As you work to meet with members of Congress and their staff this month, we want to make sure you have all the tools to have powerful meetings. On our website, we have helpful resources such as:

When requesting meetings, ask for meetings with the lawmakers face-to-face (in-person or virtually). If they are unavailable, schedule a meeting with local staff in an in-district office and ask relevant DC aides to join virtually. Relationships with both district and DC offices are important. Once you get a meeting scheduled, please contact RESULTS’ Katie Fleischer to schedule a lobby prep meeting with RESULTS staff.

New March deadlines to submit House appropriations forms

As a complement to your lobby meetings, you (and your group) should submit our appropriations requests via each office’s respective forms. With these submissions, you are offering direct input into the congressional budgeting process on global education, global health, and U.S. housing. Unfortunately, there’s not much time, as we expect Congress’ work on the FY27 budget to go at a clip. We learned last week that House appropriators have set a submission deadline of March 13 for global foreign assistance (requests go to the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs subcommittee or NSRP, formerly called SFOPS). They have also set a March 20 deadline for housing programs (which go to the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development subcommittee or T-HUD). To meet these deadlines, we need to submit our requests now (don’t wait for your next lobby meeting). If you need help with the forms, please join the upcoming Appropriations Office Hours tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET and Friday 12 p.m. ET (see details in our events calendar). You can also contact RESULTS’ Katie Fleischer for additional support.

The magic ingredient of the National Conference is you!

We hope you’re making plans to join us July 12-14 for the RESULTS National Conference. It won’t be complete without you! Registration is now open. If you want an experience that blends meeting new advocate friends, sharpening advocacy skills, and having powerful conversations on Capitol Hill, this is your event. Community is more important than ever right now — the RESULTS Conference is the perfect opportunity to find it. Financial assistance is available, so please apply. Find updates on the agenda, accommodation, and more on our National Conference page.

TL;DR (too long; didn’t read): Join us for the National Webinar this Saturday. Explore lots of lobbying support. Submit House appropriations forms right away. And register for the RESULTS National Conference in July.
