This is the time! Set up those lobby meetings!
We have launched into our first lobbying efforts of our year to “Build a Better Future”!
First order of business? Contact schedulers now to set up March lobby meetings. This spring we are talking to Congress about appropriations requests on global health, global nutrition, global education, and U.S. housing. We expect Congress’ work on the fiscal year 2027 (FY27) budget at a relatively fast clip, so we want to act now at the beginning of the process.
Need support to request, plan, and run powerful lobby meetings? We have it all here for you. This is the start of your congressional relationship-building in 2026. In making your requests, you’ll show yourselves to be passionate, informed, and committed constituents. On our website, you’ll find the following resources including a sample meeting request email you can personalize, primers on appropriations, issue backgrounders and so much more to help you feel clear and confident in your lobby meetings.
Meetings with the lawmakers themselves are ideal. If that’s not possible, try scheduling a meeting with local staff (and ask DC aides to join virtually). It’s helpful and important to build relationships with both district and local offices. Once you get a meeting scheduled, please contact RESULTS’ Katie Fleischer to schedule a lobby prep meeting with RESULTS staff.
The next move? Submitting appropriations forms during this lobby push. Complementing your lobby meetings, you (and your group) should submit our appropriations requests via appropriations forms. Each congressional office offers a form constituents can submit offering input into the appropriations process. Contact your congressional offices or visit their websites for information on their forms and submission deadlines. (Note: some offices may not use forms.) Plan to submit your funding requests both via form (if available) and in your lobby meeting(s). If you have need help with finding or completing appropriations forms, please join the upcoming Appropriations Office Hours listed in our events calendar or contact RESULTS’ Katie Fleischer.
News of note . . .
Use tonight’s State of the Union address as a media hook. The State of the Union address is always a prime opportunity for media hooks. Craft and submit a letter to the editor to highlight any mentions of our issues – or any omissions of our issues! Find writing tips and tools and letter templates on our website.
Join tuberculosis webinar next week. In recognition of Tuberculosis (TB) Awareness Month, we are hosting a webinar “Fighting TB Together: Policy, Prevention, and Public Health Priorities.” We will explore the current state of tuberculosis both in the U.S. and globally, examine the urgent need for sustained funding, and what you can do to avoid crisis. Whether you are a seasoned advocate or newly curious about global health equity, this conversation will equip you with knowledge, urgency, and practical next steps to make an impact. This webinar is part of the 2026 RESULTS Fellowship curriculum, but all are welcome. Join us Wednesday, March 4, at 9 p.m. ET for an engaging and informative webinar. Register today.
Learn how to build your political power in 2026. Individual action matters, but organized voices shape the policies that can end poverty. That’s why we’re hosting a Power Building Gathering on Thursday, March 19 at 8 p.m. ET. If you’re interested in using outreach, action networks, new advocate mentoring, or local partnerships to strengthen our impact, you won’t want to miss it. Together, we’ll plan for local power building in 2026, connect with other volunteers, and continue growing a stronger, more powerful RESULTS community together. Register today.
Join us in Washington, DC, in July! We hope you’re making plans to join us July 12-14 for the RESULTS National Conference. Registration is now open! We’re working hard to create an agenda that will inspire, equip, and support your advocacy – both as we go onto the Hill during the conference and all year through! Financial assistance is available, please apply. You’ll find updates on the agenda and more on our conference page.
TL;DR (too long; didn’t read): Schedule lobby meetings and submit appropriations forms to bring our FY27 priorities to Congress. Get media published in response to the State of Union address. Join the RESULTS Fellows’ March 4 webinar on tuberculosis. Attend the March 19 Power Building Gathering. And register for the RESULTS National Conference in July.
