World AIDS Day Is This Wednesday! Take Action Today!

Here are two important actions you can take to support the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria:

Action 1: Get an editorial published.

Our editorial packet is very good. See what the Tulsa World and the Houston Chronicle did with it. Ask your editors to write about the Global Fund in an AIDS Day editorial. Read our blog backgrounder and send them this editorial packet — and then make that call to seal the deal.

Action 2: Ask your senator to sign a letter to the president in support of the international affairs budget.

The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is supporting a Senate sign-on letter to the president asking for him to protect a strong international affairs budget in his FY12 budget. Use this local sign-on letter/petition to get your senators to sign on to the International Affairs letter. Just fill in your senator’s name and print out for tabling and events.

Continue the Push for Fall Fundraising to Get Us to Our Goal

As December will soon be upon us, please know that we are deeply grateful for your support and commitment. Your own financial support, coupled with events you’re hosting and the Friends and Family letter writing you’re conducting, is bringing us closer toward our $50,000 goal. To date, gifts and pledges that have come in during fall fundraising total $42,000, but there’s still much work to do! Let’s hit that target! Read More.

Congress is Back in Session! Get EFA Act Cosponsors.

If your senators and representatives haven’t cosponsored the Education For All Act, take that action today! We need to build support for next year. We particularly need Senators. We only have about two weeks before Congress will finish their work in Washington. Let’s get them on board before they go.

Save the Date: Celebrate the Year with Our Joint Conference Call December 11

What better way to wrap-up the year than joining your global and domestic partners for our joint conference call on Saturday, December 11? We&rsquolll come together to reflect on successes of 2010 and gear-up for challenges in 2011! The call is at 2:00 pm ET on this Saturday, December 11. To join, call (888) 409-6709.

Also, it’s not too early to do some end-of-the-year housekeeping. Have you reported all of your great advocacy actions for 2010? Have a quick conversation with your group leader now so you can get your year-end benchmarking accomplished well before the holidays fully hit.

To advance American interests and values and to lead other nations in solving shared problems in the 21 century, we must rely on our diplomats and development experts as the first face of American power. We must lead through civilian power.
