2010 Reporting and 2011 Plans: End Strong, Start Strong!

Now is the time to tend to end-of-the-year housekeeping — a wonderful excuse to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together! Have you reported all of your great advocacy actions for 2010? Have a quick conversation with your group leader now so you can get your year-end benchmarking completed. And while you are at it, why not take the time to plan your next meetings for January? Group planning materials will be available soon; have you booked a date with your group? Also, our January national conference call will come upon us quickly — January 8! Put those dates into your calendar and be ready to hit the ground running after we’ve all taken time to celebrate the season.

‘Tis the Season for Face-to-Face Meetings

What does snow in the Midwest, free online shipping offers, and frozen Florida citrus farms make you think of? Of course the upcoming congressional recess and a chance to get face-to-face meetings with your reps. and senators! Review the December Action Sheet for tips on how to secure a meeting. Review the steps to getting a meeting, talk with your group, and ring in the New Year with a meeting!

Do Your Reps. and Senators Know That 69 Million Kids Won’t Get a Winter Break?

Why not? Because in poor countries around the world, these kids never got the chance to go to school. Even more drop out by this time because they don’t have the tools and teachers to get a quality education, their family needs them, or they can no longer afford the fees. Your senators and reps. deserve to know about these kids and that there are Education for All Acts in the House and Senate to help the U.S. provide leadership to give all children access to a quality education. Review our Education for All action page. If they won’t sign on this year, it’s okay: the bills will be reintroduced next year, so start educating them now.
