Donate to the International Conference Scholarship Fund. The 2018 RESULTS International Conference (July 14-17) is an incredibly valuable opportunity for a RESULTS volunteer, and we don’t want any of our advocates to miss out on this experience because of the cost. That’s why we created the International Conference Scholarship Fund, which helps cover the costs of registration, transportation, or lodging for those who wouldn’t be able to attend without it. We strive to extend the opportunity for growth and inspiration to every RESULTS volunteer. Your tax-deductible gift will help make that possible.
Livestreaming. Information on select livestreaming during the IC will be available next week.
Have You Scheduled Your Advocacy Day Meetings with Congress? Let us know the details online so we can keep track and help support. *Remember that advocates who are home can potentially dial into your meetings on the Hill during the conference. Ask your legislators' staff if that can be arranged.*
Invite Legislators to our Advocacy Day Reception. Invite your representative and senators to join RESULTS' reception the evening of July 17 using this sample invitation.
Pre- and Post-IC Intensives. Coming to the IC early and interested in a Saturday morning with Marianne Williamson or an intensive on Running for Office? Does a post-IC intensive on building advocacy training skills to engage your community sound good? Register your intention to attend!
Cool Program Note. Not only will organizer and activist Heather Booth be speaking at our plenary on Sunday, she'll be with us in person during a screening of the film about her work Saturday evening and will lead some Q&A around the film.
Reach Act Advocacy and #LettersGetLoud
Keep the momentum up as we move into July. We are committed to getting this legislation passed.
The Reach Every Mother and Child Act (H.R.4022, S.1730) will make U.S. efforts on maternal and child health the best they can be through coordination, efficiency, and bold goals.
As of July 3, we have 167 representatives and 28 senators on the Reach Act. We need even more cosponsors and champions in Congress to move this bill. Get senators and representatives to cosponsor the Reach Act, and if they are already cosponsors, move them up the Champion Scale by asking them to advocate for and lead on the issue. Current cosponsors have a real stake in this legislation – encourage them to help gain the support that's necessary.
June Action Sheet and Meeting Guide Still Useful. Once you've set your outreach goal, use this helpful guide to create a powerful Education and Action Meeting in your community, utilizing the energy of #LettersGetLOUD to enroll new members in taking action. Your group can learn more about RESULTS and about the Reach Act, creating letters that can be packed in suitcases to be delivered to senators' and representatives' offices during the International Conference. These letters will be a clear call from your community: Congress must get the Reach Act passed!
4. Friends and Family Fundraising Campaign Wraps Up. $27,708 in two months. 184 donations. Participation from 29 states, plus DC. Many of these donors are brand new to the RESULTS family. Bravo, all – wonderful accomplishment!
