February 2020 EPIC Laser Talk: Request a Face-to-Face Meeting

ENGAGE: Hi (Scheduler’s name), my name is _________ and I’m a constituent. I’m contacting you on behalf of the RESULTS __________ chapter to request an in-person meeting with the Representative/Senator. RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed, everyday people from across the nation working to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty.

PROBLEM: As you know there is still much work to do on poverty. We see it in our community, state, and around the globe. The Representative/Senator has an important role to play in this, so we’ve been working with his office for over ___ years/months and we’ve been mobilizing lots of community members to join our movement.

INFORM ABOUT THE SOLUTION: We’ve really appreciated working with the Representative’s/Senator’s staff, but we also know that it’s important to have personal contact with the Representative/Senator. During our meeting we’d like to thank him/her personally for recent actions he/she has taken, acknowledge his/her staff, and talk about next steps we can take on global maternal and child health, and affordable housing here at home.

CALL TO ACTION: We know the Representative/Senator cares about both of these issues. Can you find us a time to meet with him/her briefly in the district during the February President’s Day recess?
