RESULTS & ACTION partnership stunned and saddened by Malaysia Airlines tragedy

July 18, 2014, Melbourne, Australia—As an ACTION partnership we are deeply saddened by the Malaysia Airlines crash and offer our heartfelt condolences to the friends, families, and colleagues of all those who died.

With the global AIDS community gathered in Melbourne, Australia this week, we mourn the loss of cherished members of our community who were on their way to the International AIDS Conference—deeply committed advocates, clinicians, and researchers who spent their lives transforming the fight against HIV and TB. We are particularly saddened that Glenn Thomas of WHO’s Department of Communications was among the passengers. Glenn was a long-time friend, collaborator, and ally working in the global fight against TB. Our thoughts are with his friends, family, and WHO colleagues, and the loved ones of all those lost in this tragedy.

The lifework of these colleagues who were lost is an affirmation of our ability to transform the response to some of the greatest challenges facing our global community. We must redouble our efforts to finish the job.
