Our Values

RESULTS has a set of volunteer commitments that we expect our active volunteers to uphold. Read through these commitments to help you get a sense if RESULTS aligns with what type of volunteering opportunity you are looking for.

We know that poverty cannot end if oppression exists. We commit to opposing all forms of oppression, including racism, classism, colonialism, white saviorism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, and religious discrimination. At RESULTS we pledge to create space for all voices and we ask our volunteers to join us in making the RESULTS movement a respectful, inclusive space.

If you join a local RESULTS group, you can expect to:

  • Meet regularly
    • Most RESULTS groups hold meetings 1-2 times a month
  • Learn about issues
    • You will learn about poverty issues and our current campaigns through your group leadership, weekly updates, website, national webinars, and more!
  • Take action together!
    • In your local group, you may do things like: contact your members of Congress, write media pieces, meet with your members of Congress and their staff, and be active in your local community
  • Share leadership
    • Volunteers share roles in their groups and we collectively take responsibility to move different aspects of our advocacy forward. There is a role for everyone!

In general, we say that an active RESULTS volunteer will spend 3-5 hours per month on advocacy actions and organizing with RESULTS.
