RESULTS advocates for policies that increase access to affordable rental housing, support homeownership, and tackle the racial wealth divide in the U.S.
So what’s RESULTS up to in 2020? Even with the elections looming, our advocacy isn’t waiting around. The work of equity and justice is needed now. Here are the two big campaigns we’re taking on in 2020.
Five years ago, I was sitting at home, feeling like I had no way of making change with my members of Congress. I was frustrated. I wanted to open up their perspectives and have conversations with them about issues I care about.
“I never thought I’d actually be able to see my representative in person,” said Mercedeh Tavacoli as she sat on a stone bench on Capitol Hill and took a breath.
Today’s shortsighted budget is yet another reminder of why we need policymakers to focus on constructive, bipartisan solutions – not undermining the effective policies we already know work.
Before the holidays, Congress reached an agreement on spending bills and taxes and sent two packages to the president for signature. The good news is that the December 2019 deal includes an additional $239 million for global health programs and billions for housing assistance. And while the final package did not include critical expansions of tax credits for low-income workers and families, your hard work laid a strong foundation – including some bipartisan momentum – for when taxes are discussed again.
