You helped unlock $25,000 for RESULTS

In June, a generous donor stepped forward with an offer: If we raised $50,000 by June 30, they would give an additional $25,000.

It was an incredible opportunity and one we couldn’t pass up, so we quickly got to work. We started by reaching out to longtime donors who might be inspired to make an additional gift – and more than a dozen donors stepped forward in June to help us hit our goal.

This was fantastic, but it wasn’t enough to unlock the match. That’s when we began to go wider with the opportunity and included it in our Spring Friends and Family campaign. This gave us a bump, but we were still $15,000 shy of our $50,000 goal.

But we weren’t about to give up now that we were so close. That’s when the donor allowed us to extend the campaign through this last month’s International Conference. There, Executive Director Joanne Carter asked attendees to raise their hands if they had ever made a donation to RESULTS or asked a friend or family member to contribute. Almost every hand in the room went up. Joanne noted how unique it was for an organization to have its volunteers also be its strongest donors and fundraisers, and how precious those resources are to helping us achieve our goals.

That’s when a thermometer appeared on the screen behind Joanne with the $15,000 goal waiting to be hit. Joanne let the room know about our incredible match opportunity. Then she asked everyone to take out their phones and make a donation. The room got to work as the thermometer ticked up with every gift.

By the end of the conference, we hit our goal and unlocked the match! These funds are ensuring we can continue to push forward on our work to pass the Reach Every Mother and Child Act, protect SNAP (formerly food stamps), turn the tide on tuberculosis, and ensure that candidates running in our midterm elections are hearing about the issues of poverty we are advocating for.
