Re-thinking Online Advocacy Efforts

This article on online advocacy and how it struggles for relevance is fascinating. Give it a read and know that you have a better answer for how to undertake meaningful advocacy. A couple items of note:

  • The article hints at effective advocacy when it talks about hand-delivering petitions, etc.
  • The article says that all a member of Congress can do is cosponsor or vote on a bill. We know this is absolutely false. All one has to do is look at the many options for leadership described in the Champion Scale to know that there is much more we can ask them to do.

Online actions aren’t valuable, it’s just that there are a whole lot of other things that are much more valuable, most of them not even stated in this piece.
