Monday, July 8th was the day that we rallied for our babies. RESULTS has continued to push for important investments in early childhood programs such as Head StartEarly Head Start, and Child Care. To continue to support early learning, RESULTS cosponsored Rally4Babies: Learning Happens from the Start, a national virtual baby rally that was sponsored by Zero to Three.

When infants and toddlers get a strong start, our nation prospers. We’re a country that believes in giving everyone a fair shot at opportunity.  But too many young children fall behind even before they step into the pre-kindergarten classroom.

There’s a common sense solution: we can invest in high-quality early learning and child development services.

Without the chance to participate in high-quality early childhood development and learning programs, gaps can appear early, sometimes even before a child’s first birthday. Kids who start out disadvantaged often stay behind, leading to wide gaps in educational achievement based on income and other socio-economic factors.

Send a clear message to Congress and the Administration to support expanded investments in high-quality early learning opportunities for infants and toddlers.

Speakers for the event included Kathleen Sebelius, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education, Jennifer Garner, actor and Save the Children artist ambassador, Laurie Berkner, children’s musician, Alma Powell, Chair of the Board of America’s Promise Alliance, as well as parents and leaders in the early childhood learning field.  The rally was hosted by Soledad O’Brien who is an award-winning journalist and CEO of Starfish Media Group.  It was a fantastic event that can be watched on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQuiHyv6VrQ.
